THE MORRO BAY ROCK – 576 feet tall, Morro Rock was formed about 23 million years ago from the plug of a long-extinct volcano (source: MorroBay.org).THE STACKS. . . These are smokestacks from a power plant which burned natural gas to generate electricity. The plant was decommissioned in 2014. (source: MorroBay.org).Approaching Morro Bay from Highway 1 — the town is beneath that layer of fog, which keeps it 10 to 12 degrees cooler than San Luis Obispo, just 12 miles inland.The Red House across the street from my hotel would look right at home in Cabo, with its orange, yellow, turquois, purple and lime green trim!HELP! They’ve infiltrated California! I saw this my first day here, parked across the street from Tidelands Park.Usually, the Rock was shrouded in fog.One day, the sun shined its light directly on the Rock. The effect was almost magical.A lovely good-bye from Morro Bay, lit by the last golden rays of the day.
